Just Say No - You've Got The Power

“No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also  make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it”. 1 Cor. 10:13 As a Christian you are filled with the Holy Spirit and set apart unto God and have been forgiven of all your sins. You should now be directed by the word of God. You ought to live a life that is well pleasing to God. Many people fall into sin and they justify it by saying that they are but flesh and that the spirit is willing to serve God but their flesh is weak. You need to realize that the decisions you make determines your eternal destiny. You must be determined to say no to sin and temptations. The devil will never force you to commit sin, he will only tempt you or offer you something he feels you may like. Your lust will lead to sin and sin leads to death (Rom 6:23). You also need to pray to God to help you when you are being tempted, He says that there is always a way of escape out of every temptation (1 Corinthians 10:13). You must ask God to show you the escape door out of every trail, temptation or compromising situation so that you can overcome. You also need to begin to desire Godly things. Sin is as a result of us feasting our minds on sensual things instead of desiring Godly things. The devil is like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour” (1 Peter 5:8). He seeks both the weak and the strong, but he will only succeed in catching and devouring the weak. When you pray, you never be a prey for the devil. You must be strong in the Lord, pray and fill yourself with the Word of God and the Holy Spirit. As you submit yourself to the Lordship of Jesus, you will be able to resist the devil and he will flee (James 4:7). Here are some tips that will help you.  Be mindful of the kind of friends you associate yourself with as 'evil company corrupts good manners' (1 Corinthians 15:23.) Find godly friends as your friends can determine your end.  Mind what you watch because the eyes are the lamp of the body. Do not defile your body by what you feast your eyes on (Mathew 22:23)  Be careful of what you listen to as words are seeds and they grow and bear forth fruits. Let the words you hear be the word of God that will bear forth godly fruits in your life  Abstain from all appearances of evil (1 Thessalonians 5:22). Do not hang around places you know will lead you to compromise or cause you to sin. If it appears evil and ungodly, disassociate yourself and withdraw from such environments. Read also 2 Timothy 2:22 )  Think pure thoughts because as a man thinks so he is (Proverbs 23:7). Our thoughts are very powerful so think on things that build you up, not pul you down. Our thoughts have the power to change our lives. So say no to thoughts that are wrong and bad and only accept good ones. God will give you the grace, strength and grace to say no to fornication(sex before marriage), adultery(extramarital affairs), lying, stealing, idolatr y, covetousness, pornography, masturbation, blasphemy, bearing false witness, compromise, lust, and all things that appear bad and are not godly . The list is endless, if something seems wrong in your heart, then it is, as God will speak to your heart through His Spirit so yield your heart to his words daily and he will direct you. Say yes to righteousness and godliness, it draws you away from sin and closer to your father, God.
