Just Like Jesus - Step By Step

“But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness  brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ”. 2 Peter 1:5-8. There is a word that we often use to describe the twelve men that followed Jesus and a lot of others that followed him. It is called disciples. A disciple is a disciplined learner, one who commits himself to hearing, observing and following the teaching of his teacher. Also the name Christian was first given to the followers of Jesus at Antioch, because people saw them and their lifestyle and immediately knew that they had been with Jesus and they were his followers. You must also be a disciple of Christ, a true Christian, not just by what you say but also by what you do. You must practice what you profess to be, the Bible says that we should not just be hearers of the word but doers of the word. You must weigh all your actions in the light of the Gods word, asking yourself, 'would Jesus do that'? You have to strive each day to walk in His steps. Jesus lived a blameless life and set an example of righteous living for us to follow.  Jesus overcame temptations: When Jesus was tempted He did not yield or fall but He stood strong, quoting the word of God. His spirit, body and soul were disciplined and He overcame the devil and so can you (Mathew 4:1-11). God has equipped you to overcome and has already provided a means of escape for you to overcome every temptation (1Corinthians 10:13). Speak the word against the lies of the devil and stand on Gods promises.  Jesus Prayed: Jesus would rise and pray in a solitary place regularly. He would pray to God before He did anything and was always in constant communication with Him. Likewise you should cultivate a lifestyle of prayer, as you can be empowered through prayer. Prayer is a dialogue between you and God. He speaks to you and you speak to Him, heart to heart. Prayer is not only an opportunity to ask from God but to know and understand Him, praise and worship Him and bask in His presence and glory (Mark 1:35)  Jesus went to the place of worship and also read the word of God: As a Christian, having a Bible believing church where you worship is very important. There you will be taught the truth in the word of God, grow and have an opportunity to serve and develop a family of believers who would be as your brothers and sisters in the faith (1Peter 2:2 & 2 Timothy 2:15)  Jesus had Faith in God: With faith in God you will never grow faint in the journey of life. Jesus believed God and acted upon His word and saw God move in many situations through signs, wonders and miracles. Having faith is very important as you cannot please God without faith (Hebrew 11:6). Faith is your  shield and it will preserve and guard you always.  Jesus Forgave: In life you will be offended by people but do not hold grudges or keep bitterness in your heart. Have a forgiving The New You Changed and Transformed Just Like Jesus - Step By Step heart. Remember how Jesus forgave you of all your sin and yet you didn't deserve it, you did so much wrong but He made everything right. You must always be willing to forgive others, whether they deserve it or not (Luke 23:34)  Jesus Obeyed God and was humble: Jesus yielded His heart to God and obeyed all He said. No matter what he faced in life, even to the point of death he was obedient. Always say yes to godliness and ask yourself what Jesus would do. Your obedience to God enriches your life, for He will direct you and lead you in paths that are certain. God is not a man that he would lie, whatever He tells you to do, be sure to do it. His words have an eternal guarantee (Luke 22:42, Hebrews 5:12, Philippians 2:6)  Jesus did good and preached the good news: In Luke 10:30-37 Jesus talks about the good Samaritan and said we should do likewise. Supporting the needy, sick, helpless and all those who need a helping hand should be what you are ready to do, be compassionate and give of yourself even as Jesus gave of Himself for you. By preaching the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ you bring hope and life to those peoples lives. (Mark 1:14-15,Acts 10:38) These are just a few Christian virtues you will do well to embrace. May your faith in God be accompanied by these good works, for faith without works is dead (James 2 vs. 26). The lists is endless but trust your conscience and Gods spirit and do what is right. Be full of faith in Jesus and do good works in love. Be a disciplined disciple, a student of the word, learning the ways of Jesus and walking in His steps.
